Our Education Principles

Although the curriculum and teaching styles vary to meet the individual needs of each learner, the school follows some guiding principles:

  • Parents & carers are important partners in educating children

  • Staff have high expectations of pupils

  • Our curriculum aims to deliver a breadth and balance of learning

  • Careful planning starts with pupil need in mind, drawing on prior achievement and pupil interest

  • Lesson plans are developed to suit pupils' learning ability, their age, and the session's content

  • Teaching styles deliberately vary to meet pupils' preferred way of learning and learning need

  • Therapy approaches support pupil learning, and where possible are integrated into lessons
