Post 16 Transition

In Sixth Form, we believe successful transitions are important aspects of a student’s school career. From Year 9, our person-centred paperwork ensures that the transition into Sixth Form appropriately meets the needs of the students thus allowing them to achieve their predicted positive outcomes.

Our Year 11 students have taster days in Sixth Form, as well as opportunities to collaborate with Sixth Form on enterprise and charity days. As well as scheduled time to participate in extra-curricular activities in the summer term before their transition.

Our Post-16 course is nominally 3 years. In some cases, students may be ready for their next setting earlier. In these instances, we would consider it positive and appropriate as long as they were entering education at another institution, participating in vocational training or employment.

Pentland Field has well established links with Local Authorities, and Post-19 settings in the surrounding areas. As part of the programmes of study, students visit a range of settings.

Pentland Field hosts annual Post-19 information sessions for parents and students. Pentland Field is committed to supporting parents with transitions by: early planning and sign posting, as well as sharing information regarding Open Days.

Students are supported in their transition, as all of our students receive a block of therapy in Summer Term. The sessions will address any concerns a student may have regarding their transition to their Post-19 setting.

Therapist will also help to explain what to expect from their new setting, and how this may differ from Pentland Field School. The sessions will take place in the Summer term before the student is expected to begin at their new setting.

At Pentland Field School, we are keenly interested fostering a special relationship with the alumni. We want to hear about your progress, as well as know information about what life looks like beyond Pentland Field. If you are a past pupil at Pentland Field School who wishes to get in touch, please email info@pentlandfieldschool.co.uk

Our Alumni receive an annual newsletter from the school, which includes invites to community events and updates from the school. We also distribute a termly newsletter from our alumni to the school community.
